How To Make Homemade Magic Shell Chocolate Ball
It is easy to make homemade magic shell ice cream balls!! These chocolate and butter coated ice cream balls are really not magic at all.
We used to make this all the time in the restaurant I worked in.
It is a fun, fast and not so healthy recipe but if you make it from scratch it is possibly a little bit healthier and definitely cheaper than if you buy it in the (now famous) bottle called Magic Shell.
Make Your Own Magic Shell Ice Cream Ball
This is such an easy recipe I had not planned on posting it, but after teaching it at a recent cooking class and posting it on Facebook, the comments showed an overwhelming in the need for the recipe.
When we made this in the restaurant we made huge batches of the chocolate then put it into little glass pitchers to microwave to order so we could serve it on a per person basis.
The basic recipe is 1 part butter to 4 parts semisweet chocolate, melted then poured over strawberry ice cream then sprinkled with nuts.
The key to really YUMMY magic shell butter balls is eating them immediately. The warm chocolate melts the ice cream just a bit and the cold ice cream makes the chocolate magically turn hard. The combination of the two create this sensational treat!
Recipe For Magic Shell Ice Cream
You can make small portions using the above 1:4 (butter : chocolate) ratio or to make a batch that serves about 10 use this magic shell recipe:
