How To Make Grilled Pizza
The first step in making grilled pizza is to have a good quality homemade pizza crust dough.
From there it is not as complicated as you may think.
The only real difference in cooking a pizza on the grill vs in the oven is the size of the pizza.
This homemade pizza crust recipe makes 3 medium to large pizzas. So for grilled pizza you need to cut each one of those balls in half for a personal-sized pizza (even if you plan to eat the whole thing.)
How To Make Grilled Pizza
- Heat your grill to a medium low setting.
- Drizzle your pizza dough with olive oil, then while standing at the grill stretch the raw dough and lay it on the hot grill grids.
- Grill on medium to low heat until light grill marks are on the bottom. It does not have to be cooked through.
- Turn the grilled pizza over.
- Move the pizza to the top shelf or a section of the grill where you have reduced the heat.
- Add your favorite toppings.
- Close the lid and finish cooking till all bubbly and the crust is fully cooked.
- Cut the personal grilled pizza in half for easy eating.
Remember that homemade pizza is never round!
You can put any toppings you want on your grilled pizza just as if it was in the oven.
